Healthcare
Heroes have a purpose:
to help, heal and save lives.
They put others before themselves;
see problems and solve them.
They are individuals and organizations who truly make a difference in
the health of our community.
Healthcare Heroes is a program of the Citrus County Chronicle that
recognizes excellence, promotes innovation and educates the community
about best practices to enhance the value and quality of healthcare.
The 2016 Heroes will be nominated by the community and then chosen by a
select committee. We will honor our winners at an awards luncheon
in August 12, 2016, plus they will be profiled in a special section
inserted in the Citrus County Chronicle.

You can nominate your Healthcare
Hero in one of the following categories.
- Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare Award: Honors
a healthcare leader who has left a legacy of quality and delivery of
healthcare.
- Innovation in Healthcare Award: Honors a
company, organization or group of individuals responsible for
development of a new procedure, treatment or service that can save
lives or improve quality of life. This category includes pharmaceutical
companies as well as research and development projects.
- Administrative Excellence in Healthcare Award: Honors
a healthcare administrator whose performance, care and leadership is
considered exemplary by patients and peers.
- Physician's Excellence in Healthcare Award: Honors
a physician - such as a family physician or pediatrician and will
include OB/GYN, psychiatry, osteopathy, chiropractic, anesthesiology,
oncology, cardiology, neurosurgery, etc. - whose performance is
considered exemplary by patients and peers.
- Dental Excellence in Healthcare Award: Honors a
dentist - such as general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, Endodontist,
Periodontist, etc. - whose performance is considered exemplary by
patients and peers.
- Nurse's Excellence in Healthcare Award: Honors
an individual from the nursing field - such as RN, LPN, CNA whose
performance is considered exemplary by patients and peers.
- Healthcare Professional Award:
Honors a healthcare provider other than doctors and nurses - such as
first responder, EMT, social worker, hospital department staff,
physicians assistant, dental assistant, radiologist, lab technician and
physical therapist - whose performance is considered exemplary by
patients and peers.
- Community Outreach Award:
Honors a company or organization that reached out of its normal sphere
of operation to focus attention on a healthcare issue or help solve a
community problem.
- Healthcare Humanitarian Award:
Honors a Healthcare provider, Doctor or Nurse that goes above and
beyond to use their talent and knowledge to help improve the health of
those less fortunate.
- Citrus County Readers Choice Award: An
Individual selected from the nominees by the community of Citrus County.
